Sketch Saturday - Sketch #329

Vannessa created this week's sketch and my image Underwear Hero, from our sponsor, A Random Fan fit perfectly in with the sketch.  I loved coloring this little guy.  I have a couple of grandsons that I can see doing this!  I tried to color his legs so they looked like he had a summer tan from wearing shorts!  Stop by the Sketch Saturday blog and see what the DT did with our sketch!

Southern Girls Challenge #97 - Shabby Chic

The day has finally arrived for my first DT card for the Southern Girls Challenge, which is from New Zealand.  As the northern hemisphere is moving into fall and winter, our NZ southern girl friends are thinking of spring!  Lucky them! I am super-excited to be part of Team Lou and will be on the DT until February.

Challenge #97 is "Shabby Chic" - and I don't mind telling you I had some struggles with it.  Shabby Chic is a stretch for me.  I don't use lots of flowers, soft colors, doilies, or lace in my card design.

My card uses a Lacy Sunshine image called Gusty Oak from the Flower Pot collection (not necessarily a Shabby Chic image!).  I tried to work around it by using Copics that were more in the grayed tones. A little bit of lace, patterned papers, and some white buttons helped with the Shabby Chic look.  I hope you will join us with the challenge!

Crafty Sentiments - Christmas in September!

Time for a new Crafty Sentiments Challenge from Team B - the theme is Christmas in September!  I am using an image from the July release called Hark the Angel Sing.  She's a cutie!

I went with some lighter colors and used R000, 00, and 01 for her dress.
Her wings use W00, 0, 03.
Her shoes are R22, 24 - so are the berries with a touch of R39.
The greens - YG01, 03, G08.

The red patterned paper is mounted on off-white and my largest stitched die from Lil' Inkers helps create a border.  I used Sizzix ovals for the die cuts and inlaid them into the patterned paper.  The sentiment was a left over from last season and is from PTI.  I used some scraps of lace to and 3 jewels to finish it off.  The picture doesn't show the Wink of Stella on her wings, horn, candle and head wreath.  Pop over to the Crafty Sentiments Blog to see what the gals have for inspiration.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #328

DeeDee Designs is this week's sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday.  I am using one of the images from their Autumn Blessings set.  All three digis were so appealing, I had a hard time choosing which one to color this week!  The sketch guided my choice - I thought the wreath would be perfect for the circle focal point.  My table was covered in Copics as I colored the leaves, trying to get the colors I am so fond of seeing in the fall.  Check out what the DT has for you here and join us this week!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #327

Glad you stopped by today for the next Sketch Saturday sketch.  #327 was created by Deb and I knew which image to use right away - Amalia Flower Fairy!  It's been a while since I have dipped into my Dilly Beans collection of digis and I loved coloring her.
I ended up moving the star from the top, right of the sketch to the bottom right on my card.  IRL, the card doesn't have as much gray in the shading.  Something was a little off with my camera.  I used C1 for shading on the flowers and part of the wings, which was picked up like crazy in the photo.

Simon Says Stamp is our sponsor. Hope you play along with us this week at Sketch Saturday.  Check out what the DT did with the sketch HERE!

Crafty Sentiments - Spots and/or Stripes Challenge

Back again with another card for the Crafty Sentiments Blog!  This week the DT was given a "Spots and/or Stripes" challenge to work with.  You don't have to ask me more than once to use polka dots - I LOVE them (as you can probably tell from this card!  This sweet little girl is from the Crafty Sentiments shop called, Rain, Rain.

I colored two umbrellas and fussy cut the main part and popped it out to give the umbrella some dimension.  The sentiment is from MFT.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #326

Happy Saturday, Sketchers!  Our own DT member, Lizy is sponsoring this week's challenge with a gift pack from Stampin' Up!  Lizy is an Independent Demonstrator, so I am sure she has some fabulous things in store for this week's winner.

Lizy created the sketch, too.  I had fun with it, even though my card didn't turn out like I was originally picturing in my head.  I have been playing around with the faux watercolor technique lately.  Part of me wants to break down and buy a set of watercolors rather than making due with my SU! watercolor markers, inks and my limited selection of Distress Inks.   It would probably be better to invest a little money on the small Distress Inks using coupons from Michaels!   We'll see what happens and how long I practice impulse control!

My card uses one of the Lil' Inkers Designs Stitched Rectangle Mats, their Stitched Oval Mats, a crocheted flower my SIL made, an old felt flower center from SU! and their French Script stamp for the background.  The main image is called Jar Bouquet from Stampendous.  Take a look at the variety of ways the Sketch Saturday DT used Lizy's sketch here.

Sister Act - Challenge #73

Back again with another card using the faux watercolor technique this week for Sister Act.  This one uses MFT's Pretty Poppies Stamp.  After inking the flowers, leaves, and stems, then spritzing each with water, I masked off the image and used the script stamp that comes with the set to stamp the background.  I purposefully used a darker ink in the center around the flowers to provide a little shading and visual interest.

This will be my last week on the Sister Act DT.  Life has gotten a little hectic and I need to cut back.  It's been a great experience and I will always be grateful to Jenn and Tricia for launching me into DT work and for starting a blog.

Fitztown is the Sister Act Sponsor this week.  Stop by the blog to be inspired by the DT's creations.
